SwiftPay FAQ
Where are card balances and transactions kept?
On the store’s device in the browser database used by SwiftPay. SwiftPay cannot view those records through the licensing service.
Why does a local product need internet access?
Internet access is required to verify the store email and start the seven-day trial, activate a paid license, and periodically refresh digitally signed proof that the license remains valid. The verified email is used to enforce one free trial. These requests contain licensing information only—not card numbers, balances, transactions, users, reports, or backups.
Can it work temporarily without internet?
Yes. After SwiftPay has verified its signed license online at least once, Issue and Reload continue offline, including after the app is closed or sent to the background, until the license verification date shown in Settings. That date is measured with time derived from the licensing server, not from the device clock alone. If the device clock is set earlier than SwiftPay last verified, Issue and Reload pause until the next online refresh. When the internet returns, SwiftPay refreshes the license automatically. Balance lookup and redemption of existing cards continue offline at all times.
How do I activate or renew?
An Admin opens Settings > License & Renewal. Enter the one-time ACT code after the free trial. For each later year, enter the new one-time REN code supplied by SwiftPay. Both codes are tied to the displayed Device ID and require an internet connection.
What card rules are built in?
Cards may be issued from $5 to $1,000. Active cards may be reloaded when the resulting balance will not exceed $1,000. SwiftPay does not cap a store’s daily Issue plus Reload total. Once a store’s Issue plus Reload total for the Georgia/Eastern day passes $10,000, SwiftPay shows a reminder on the Issue and Reload screens and asks an employee to acknowledge it once at each $10,000 mark; the acknowledgments appear in the Daily Report. A reversed Issue or Reload still counts toward that day’s total. The merchant must never sell more than $10,000 in SwiftPay cards or reloads to one customer per day. Funds do not expire. SwiftPay charges no dormancy, inactivity, or service fees. Not redeemable for cash. Every reload and redemption records the selected purpose in the permanent audit trail.
Are trial cards valid stored value?
No. Trial cards, PIN slips, receipts, Pocket Cards, reports, exports, and confirmations are marked “TRIAL — TEST CARD” and “NO MONETARY VALUE — NOT VALID FOR REDEMPTION.” Paid activation starts a clean production ledger. Trial records remain permanently quarantined and cannot become production cards.
Who decides what the software is used for?
The merchant does. The merchant is responsible for ensuring that every card is authorized, supported by its records, and permitted by applicable law.
Can mistakes be deleted?
No. A Manager or Owner creates an audited reversal. The original and reversal remain in history.
How often should I back up?
At least weekly and before replacing, resetting, updating, or changing the primary device or browser. Keep backups outside the primary device.
Can I use more than one device?
Each installation has separate local data and requires approval under its license. Use one primary operating device per store unless SwiftPay authorizes another installation.
How should the SwiftPay device be secured?
Use a store-controlled operating-system account or kiosk/browser profile. Block guest access, unapproved extensions, developer tools, and unauthorized physical access. SwiftPay signs out after a reload, but local web software cannot prevent a device or browser administrator from inspecting local browser data. SwiftPay does not lock automatically after inactivity: a signed-in session stays open until someone presses Lock, signs out, or closes the app. Do not leave a signed-in terminal unattended (accepted owner risk).
